LAKE TITIKAKA

We have finally left Bolivia after 6 weeks and are now in Peru. Our first stop was in Puno (Utes!) on the shore of of the highest lake in the world....Lake Titikaka. Nice to be by some water again. We visited the Floating Islands which is a little village of 1000+ people who build and live on floating islands made from reeds. Pretty amazing really. We then headed out to the second biggest Island on the lake and were billeted out to a local family. We stayed with Mama and Papa...who were great, he was a champ dancer as we found out at our traditional party, and she the best cook on the ´vegetarian´Island.

The Floating Island that we visited.

Warming up for the Floating Island parade!

Jarrod and Joel hanging on the Islands edge. The boat in the background is also made form reeds...actually, pretty much everything is. You can even eat it.....Joel tried to smoke it!!

Our Island family. We love you Ma and Pa!!! Sorry for the fuzzy photo.

Us dressed with our Papa...ready for our evening party. Show us your teeth.

Us posing beneath the Arches of the Sun....an ancient temple used for sacrificing Guinea Pigs......Just kidding. Just about to descend down 500+ rock steps to our boat, returning to Puno (Utes!).
